Bought a new Excallibur about 8 months ago to use on my local beaches only, and wow what a great detector this is. No problem at all going from the dry onto the wet. The only thing you have to do is pushing the Sens all the time to get the best depth. If the machine is stable just go a little bit higher on the Sense until the machine starts giving false signals then back of a little.

The only thing I changed was the headphone, because I do not use the detector in the water I changed the standard headphone for a much better Peltor 3M headphone.  This really makes a big difference, because almost all the outside noice is blocked.  Since I started using the headphone I feel that I'm finding the more deeper targets as well.

Andre,

I have the Excalibur 1000. I have also done the Peltor mod and have noticed a good improvement.

I love the excalibur and will never part with mine

Hi Opa,
I have an Excal II, I am waiting for my Bliss, looked at all the online vids of the Bliss I can find. The sounds from the machine seem similar to the Excal, have you found that the feedback from the Bliss is similar??
How did you go about changing the headphones?? I did get my Excal for diving, the whole reason I came into the hobby if Im honest, but whilst getting used to it on farmland found It addictive in its own right which is why I'm now getting a land based machine. Don't like the stock headphones on the Excal, would like to change them but only if I can maintain the watertight integrity so I can still use it for diving. There are other waterproof headphones, like the Garrett's which look like they are more robust and If I can I would replace then.
Thankyou.

Graham.

Graham,

I replaced mine with none waterproof phones although they will take a dunking but i would have to then squeeze all the water out of the padding, the electronics are still fully water proof in the headset. You can do a hard wire replacement with other waterproof sets and this is not that difficult to do.

There are many posts here look in the excall threads also beach and modifications threads.

If you are use to the excal i think you will easily adapt to the bliss single tone, i managed it right out the box and was calling multiple targets in just a few trips. Have a look at some of my vids and you will see what i mean.
Just make sure you use some nice easy settings to get you started, you will be surprised just how deep the simple settings go

enjoy the bliss but keep that excal for the wet beach
